Beans Curry is a healthy and easy recipe that can be made at home. This delicious and flavourful Indian bean curry is made with spices and herbs which help to boost your metabolism and immunity. Try this quick and easy recipe which can go well with rice, and chapati. For this recipe, I have used White lima beans, also called Double white beans or Butter beans.

Ingredients:-
1.White Lima Beans – 500gms
2.Edible Sesame Oil – 3 spoons
3.Onions – 2(medium size)
4.Tomatoes -2(medium size)
5.Green Chillies -2
6.Turmeric -1/8 tsp
7.Red Chilli Powder -1/2 to 3/4 tsp
8.Cumin Seeds/Zeera -1/2 tsp
9.Soya Chunks -50 gms
10.Fox nuts/Phool makhana/Lotus Seeds -50 gms
11.Salt – 1 to 1/2 spoon(as per your taste)
Step-by-Step Process to make Beans Curry Recipe:-
1)Take 500 grams of white lima beans. Soak these beans in water for 6 hours or overnight. This pre-soaking procedure helps to cook the lima beans faster. Take a strainer then drain all the water. Now add 1 glass of water to the bowl containing beans and cook it on a medium flame for 25 minutes. Now the beans become soft as shown. Keep these beans aside.
2) Now take 3 medium onions, 2 tomatoes, and 2 green chilies. Cut them into small pieces and place them in 3 different bowls. Take a Pan and heat it. Now apply 2 to 3 spoons of edible sesame oil.
3) When the oil gets heated add the finely chopped onions, green chilies, 20 grams of cashews and saute them. Keep the flame at sim level. After 2 minutes, the onions pieces would turn to lite pink color.

4) Add tomatoes, 50 gms of Soya chunks, and Phool makhana or Lotus seeds 50 grams to the mixture.
5) After that, add 500 grams of Lima beans which are also called Butter beans.
6) Now add Turmeric – 1/8tsp, Red chilli powder -1/2 to 3/4 tsp, Salt 1 spoon(or as per your taste) to the recipe and mix all the ingredients well.
7) Now add 1 glass of water to the mixture and close the lid and put the flame in sim level. Cook it for 10 to 15 minutes. In the meanwhile, spicy masala should be prepared.
Preparation of Masala Paste for Beans Curry:-
To prepare spicy masala paste we used a traditional stone masher called KALVAM which consists of a horizontal oval-shaped Mortar where we place all the ingredients and a vertical Pestle stone to mash and grind the ingredients.
It is a perfect kitchen tool to prepare Masala paste. It is used for grinding many types of dry and wet herbs from ancient times.
The aroma and taste of the food are enhanced by using this Kalvam stone in the preparation of food.
Masala Ingredients:-
- One small piece of ginger
- Cloves – 5 to 6
- Garlic – 5
- Coriander – 2 tbsp
- Cumin/Zeera – 2 tbsp
- Elachi/ Cardamom – 4
- Poppy seeds – 1tbsp
Now place all the masala ingredients in the Kalvam’s oval-shaped horizontal mortar stone.
Then mash and rub all the ingredients together with the pestle.
Sprinkle water in between and grind all the ingredients well with the pestle until it becomes a soft lump of masala.
Finally, add this lump of masala paste to the bean curry. Add nicely chopped coriander leaves and mix well.
Let it cook for 5 minutes until the curry becomes thick. Your Flavourful and Delicious mouth-watering White Lima bean or Butter beans curry is ready to serve.
This beans curry goes well with rice, chapatis, and pulkas.
